Wow!  What a fantastic capture and it is as though he has posed himself so artfully in that window!  Does he know what a lovely study in contrast he presents?  Great shot!!

Almost looks like a penguin's face. We have lots of turkey vultures here in SoFL this time of year. They eat the roadkill, or die trying. I like the shot left uncropped.

There are about a million things I love about this shot, but mostly I love that you got it!!  The textures are incredible.  Great color.  So what if the subject was playing hard to get?  It's great!

Thank you both.  About 7 months ago when I drove by this abandoned house there were two of them sitting in this window, facing out...but I didn't have my camera.  Now every time I drive by I slow way down...hoping to see them again and yesterday they were there. By the time I made a u-turn and pulled to the shoulder of the road the female had hopped off the sill and into the house...and the male had turned his back...clearly ready to jump down too.  I had about 5 seconds to get the shot.  It wasn't the shot I wanted but it was the shot I got.  I debated on cropping it down to only the window frame but left it as is.  I'm not giving up on getting the two of them, facing out...it was so American Gothic.

I LOVE this shot, Gini!  Black-headed vultures are not as easy to photograph as we would like.  I'll bet she was nesting in the abandoned building.  Great shot!
