Yes it is.  We'll be living in the Shorewood area and be very near the lakefront, but the wards and downtown area will be easily accessible.  I'm fortunate that I know Milwaukee fairly well and having lived there before it'll be a pretty easy transistion.  I sure will miss da nort' woods though!

My youngest daughter is a student/teacher at UWM.  I've been up there a couple of times and really liked the Third Ward area and funky Brady Street.  There are some interesting areas near the lake, but no barns.  GREAT old architecture!!

The "bulldoze it now" mentality gets more true every day, Sheree!  I find myself going further afield to find the really interesting shots, but as I always tell folks, I can find good photography anywhere.  You just have to be willing to shoot some pretty bizarre subjects sometimes.  I'm moving from the northwoods of Wisconsin back to the city of Milwaukee in a couple of weeks and I have to refocus (pun always fully intended) my photographic expectations.  I've always liked shooting urban and industrial shots and for sure I'll get my fill in Beertown.  Here's hoping that I can find what I'm looking for!

I live in an area of the country where finding old buildings like this is close to impossible.  Nothing is left to just stand; there's always a developer ready to put up another parking garage.  It's one of the reasons I end up going back to the old standby places.  And I'm really not a fan of the more contemporary stuff.  So... envy!!  That little green monster that makes me wish I lived somewhere interesting!!

You folks are a HOOT!  As you may guess, I'm pretty persistent when it comes to getting "the shot".  Most of my subject matter is by chance, but I do make "shoot trips" a regular habit.   This barn had many different aspects that I took full advantage of.  This is a detail of "Shell Barn" and the osprey shots that I've posted (I think I did) are from it too. Thanks for the kudos!

I'm beginning to get "subject envy" from all these wonderful photos!!  Love the color contrasts.  If only this one could talk...
