This is true. Our guide, when we toured the fort, was a young woman who remained in character the entire time. She was quite convincing and her role was that of a young, newly-wed, "mixed-breed" Ojibwa woman. I remember as a child going to the historic Fort William, but that was nothing compared to what they offer now. Of course I higly recommend the circle tour of Lake Superior if you're looking for a wonderful vacation adventure. If anyone is interested, I can give you several points of interest and activity along the way.

Thanks Maggie! This one is located at historic Fort William in Thunder Bay Ontario. There are many big canoes there and the fort itself is very well maintained and peopled with reenactors. I recommend it highly.

Wow! I've wanted to see one of these ever since reading John McPhee's "the Survival of the Bark Canoe!" This is beautiful on so many levels: conceptually, color, light, and texture...
