Really?  St. Mary's River near Cumberland Island?  It's interesting now to imagine the beautiful colors that you chose to forego to present this place in this particular light.  Still, I like your choice!

That's the word I've been searching for! Stark. Thank you for helping me find it. The colors here are really beautiful. It is situated at the mouth of St. Mary's river so you have the water, the brickwork and deep green shrubs to enjoy. Even so, B/W lends itself better to the feelings I had while there.

I agree with your use of black and white here.  It creates an appropriate starkness to the photo and to its content.

It's rare that I use B/W but some subjects just scream out for it! Like this one. :^) This fort was never under attack but they were ready just in case.
