I noticed the same thing with some of my shots - I play with the contrast just a bit too sometimes to give them a more dramatic effect.

Sheree, I'd love to see those shots!  Kristin, I've been experimenting more with my black and whites and find that so many of my not-so-great shots really do improve as black and whites. 

  Right now I'm mining a lot of my older shots in search of some monochromatic "jewels".  Wish me luck!

I feel the same way about old boats that I do about old barns, I want to know the "story" of their lives, who owned them and were they well kept.  I have some shots I took this summer at my mother-in-law's childhood home and several are the old tobacco barn and equipment barn.  Need to put those up here.
