We'd like to know the top 10 things you have been listening to in the past few days. Give us some interesting ideas. These are not your all time faves. This is what you're actually listening to now!
Raul Malo. Saw him Friday night and as soon as the show was over I wanted another hour or two. Specifically his version of Jesse Winchester's "Oh What A Thrill." Hot, Hot, HOT!! Tssss... But pretty much anything he does is amazing. That voice!!
I just have to share this because it is so cool. An artist called Pogo created this using chords, sound effects and vocal samples from the first four seasons of the TV show Dexter. Very cool! He has made several along the same vein using other shows & movies.
I am still, very solidly, stuck on Raul Malo. Even my 85-year-old mother is in love with his voice!!
So, specifically:
Lucky One
Moonlight Kiss
Something Tells Me
Hello Again
Ready For My Lovin
Cryin For You
You Always Win
Lonely Hearts
One More Angel
Rosalie
I've been listening to a couple of my favorite artists lately. Bruce Cockburn - Dart To the Heart and Greg Brown- If I had Known
Both of these albums are so very good!
I LOVE the Bruce Cockburn Christmas CD! We got it for free with a purchase at Canadian Tire two Christmasses ago. We were going to go see Bruce Cockburn in concert here in Fredericton last week in fact, but he had to cancel due to getting pneumonia. Hopefully he's recovering quickly.
oooo why would you think we're put off by celtic music? i love it. i was just listening to cathie ryan. i love her. eileen ivers is a HUGE fave of mine. i ALMOST had her at a wiffle show, and we missed by schedules. i so wish i had had her!!! thanks for this, elle!!! xoxoxox
I've been listening to Paul Simon's new song, 'Getting Ready for Christmas Day'. It will be included on his new album 'So Beautiful or So What', which will be released in the spring! Here's a link to the Christmas song:
i didn't even know he had one, helen! thanks for this. if you want to put a link in here , you can put a link like you did. but if you want a video to show , use the embedment code....

"Mysterious Traveler" - Weather Report
Yes, it is, and as usual, it's very much worth downloading. It's not glossy "like "Pink Houses" or "Our Country" - he's been trending in a hard blues/folk/country direction for a couple albums. As usual, he has much to say about life in rural America.
i've always liked mellencamp ALOT. and although he got plenty of fame, i always thought his songs got less critical attention than they deserved.he's a real americana rocker.love his stuff!
Strange things are afoot in my earholes today.. last 5 songs in order that i have heard are.. (
5 "Childlike faith in childhood" Van Der Graaf Generator
4. "Catherine of Aragon" Rick Wakeman
3. "Life is a love song" Jethro Tull
2. "I'm not in love" 10CC (dont even ask)
1. "YYZ" Rush
really, elle? i had her at a wiffledust celtic concert....and i was blown away by her beautiful voice. i've heard she's moved to ireland, so she's not as easy to get at a show anymore. but i'm so happy she's still making music!
I was SO glad when this guy did a Christmas CD! Now if he'd just tackle the "standards"... Merry Christmas to Lisa and all of the wonderful people here!
This young man writes some very nice stuff. The tune is an old trad tune, to which he wrote the words (for his FIL). Also, he's going to be doing a house concert in the Philly area at the end of the month and will be (along with his band) at the Scottish/Irish festival in Valley Forge, PA in February.
i'm listening to "old car" which is actually a new song by eliot bronson. i put it on my player for anyone who wants to have a listen. great tune! i have more to tell you about, but first, i must sleep! ;-)
A friend recently recommended The Black Keys (for some reason I hadn't heard any of their stuff before), and now I'm completely hooked. What a sound! Here are a couple of wonderful examples:
