Raul Malo. Saw him Friday night and as soon as the show was over I wanted another hour or two. Specifically his version of Jesse Winchester's "Oh What A Thrill." Hot, Hot, HOT!! Tssss... But pretty much anything he does is amazing. That voice!!
  • Elle MacNeil

OH, yeah, Sher!! Another good one!
  • Helen

I just have to share this because it is so cool. An artist called Pogo created this using chords, sound effects and vocal samples from the first four seasons of the TV show Dexter. Very cool! He has made several along the same vein using other shows & movies.

    Something Tells Me
    Hello Again
    Ready For My Lovin
    Cryin For You
    You Always Win
    Lonely Hearts

I LOVE the Bruce Cockburn Christmas CD! We got it for free with a purchase at Canadian Tire two Christmasses ago. We were going to go see Bruce Cockburn in concert here in Fredericton last week in fact, but he had to cancel due to getting pneumonia. Hopefully he's recovering quickly.

excellent, polar. is this the new mellencamp?
  • Polar

Yes, it is, and as usual, it's very much worth downloading. It's not glossy "like "Pink Houses" or "Our Country" - he's been trending in a hard blues/folk/country direction for a couple albums. As usual, he has much to say about life in rural America.
  • wiffledust

i've always liked mellencamp ALOT. and although he got plenty of fame, i always thought his songs got less critical attention than they deserved.he's a real americana rocker.love his stuff!
  • Elle MacNeil

If you ever get a chance to see this bad (Rathkeltair), do it! All of the musicians are superb; the 'piper is amazing.

  • Elle MacNeil

I just realized I should have put the link below under the "bands to see live" title.

And I almost forgot about this band. Love their outlook on life and love the singer's voice. This pretty much sums up how I feel today!

  • wiffledust

don't worry, elle....there's a good reason for cross posting on these two groups! hi!!! xoxoxoxo

  • Elle MacNeil

I've seen Cathy live.  She was at our friends' festival one year.  Nice!

  • wiffledust

really, elle? i had her at a wiffledust celtic concert....and i was blown away by her beautiful voice. i've heard she's moved to ireland, so she's not as easy to get at a show anymore. but i'm so happy she's still making music!

This young man writes some very nice stuff.  The tune is an old trad tune, to which he wrote the words (for his FIL).  Also, he's going to be doing a house concert in the Philly area at the end of the month and will be (along with his band) at the Scottish/Irish festival  in Valley Forge, PA in February.
