you guys, i finally saw "crazy heart" with jeff bridges. it didn't do it for me. i found it to be one of those dark and mumbly movies. did anyone else see it? did i miss something? i like personal little stories , esp about personal triumph etc. but this just did nothing for me. not sure why.

today is the 50th birthday of To Kill a Mockingbird! Happy Birthday to one of the best American books that turned into one of the best American movies EVER! "Jean Louise, Jean Louise! Stand up! Your father's passin'"

4 weddings and a funeral is one of those movies that i have seen a million times but never one time straight through. so i've seen all the parts, but never saw the plot!!! but i love andie macdowell. is that her name? i think she's an underrated actress. perhaps she plays the same person in alot of films, but she does so with alot of intrigue. it's hard to not pay attention to what she's doing. and i also like hugh grant alot.

Oh, and talking about John Hannah reminds me of another movie I like - 4 Weddings and a Funeral. I found my favorite poem in that movie.

Oh, Sliding Doors - YES!!!! Loved that movie; loved the Scot playing the man that Gwyneth Paltrow keeps connecting with. "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition." ; )

what's with ben kingsley and the super sad stuff? I remember thinking i was going to have to tie myself to a railroad track after "house of sea and fog" or whatever the heck that sad thing was called. that was one tragic moment after another! ...back to serendipity for a moment. i think that's a perfect little "light" movie. it keeps moving in at a nice pace, and has some good messages in it too. just enough magic to be romantic. i always feel that if i don't forget a movie, then it's good. and serendipity was a movie i often think about. ...looking forward to trying the answer man, elle. and sliding doors too, susie!

Serendipity WAS cute! I have to watch that again. Lisa, don't feel bad about Lake House - me, too!!

I watched two movies (well, almost 2 - came in late on the last one) the other night. One was The Answer Man. Jeff Daniels and somebody Grahahm. A sweet movie, if not too deep. Then a complete 180! Elegy with Ben Kingsley, Penelope Cruz and Dennis Hopper. Whoa! Very dark and sad, but I liked it. Not the tied-up-in-a-pretty-bow ending that I like, but it was left open, so I got a mental bit of ribbon and did my own tying!! ; )

i love the whole premise of this sort of thing, but i haven't seen alot of movies that i understand that do it well. or else i'm just stupid. i loved watching the lake house. but i got confused. i didn't see time travelers wife. now i have to! on a cute note about serendipity type things, did you like the movie "serendipity"? i did. i like that tom kimmel wrote a song in it! ;-)

oh great! i love that sort of stuff when it's done right. it's not easy to do. for example, the lake house was one of those "through dimensions" things, and i just had so much trouble following it. anyone else?

Also, (500) Days of Summer was really good.
