A wonderful story of a beautiful land, David. I am drawn to New Mexico in part because it is so ancient and, if I pay attention, even now glimmers of history surround me there. Thank you for helping me to see that history more clearly. I'll be thinking of this piece next time I travel that way.

Just returned from a trip to your home state. I appreciate how you share your perspective. I love your home state ... where you were born :-)

Thanks, Robert. It truly is the Land of Enchantment... there's something magical about it. Not razzle dazzle magic. There's a certain subtlety to it. But it's powerful stuff, and it gets all up in you without your even realizing it. You just come around a bend and wham, there it is. It could be a rainbow, or a cloud formation, or a cliff, or an old adobe church, or an ancient Anasazi ruin, or a raven by the side of the road. And your internal dialog just stops. Some people don't seem to feel it at all. But for those who do, they feel it strong. And I do feel blessed to call it home. As I get older, I realize how much of who we are is where we're from.
Thank you for sharing, David!…tag:worldofwiffledust.com,2012-01-16:2870411:Comment:893652012-01-16T21:36:33.017ZRobert P.
Thank you for sharing, David! I've spent a little bit of time in New Mexico working and playing tourist. It's a beautiful region and it seems to me that there is always something new to be found. You are blessed to be able to call it home. Good onya!

Thanks, guys. Lisa, you'd be surprised how many people don't even know New Mexico is a state. They think it's a foreign, dusty kinda third world country. And they're almost right...

beautifully descriptive thoughts about your beloved home state, david. thanks for this. i think many of us have no concept of new mexico. we have some distant idea of it if we've never been. you have made far more aware of it. we have a member on wiffledust, stephen foster, who has made a small town there his home, because he adores it so much. i think he will certainly enjoy this! as will everyone.
