That's a very good observation about them considering you haven't been there (YET!). You are a person that appreciates art and culture and history. It is something that we as Americans are lacking. I don't want to make a blanket statement about American culture, but let's face it, we are a YOUNG country compared to Europe and the Orient.
That's a very good observation about them considering you haven't been there (YET!). You are a person that appreciates art and culture and history. It is something that we as Americans are lacking. I don't want to make a blanket statement about American culture, but let's face it, we are a YOUNG country compared to Europe and the Orient. I lived in Japan for 2 years, and they use the standard calendar just as we do, but they also use the ancient dating system of each year of the Emperor's reign. So, for example I was born in 1949. It was Emperor Hirohito's 24th year of his reign. So, I would say to a Japanes, I was born in Showa 24. So, when one has that kind of mind knowing the history of your country, it changes the way one sees the world. Sometimes I believe the world looks upon the U.S. as a petulant child with not enough wisdom to control its own strength. Sorry. I'm on my 2nd cup of French Press and I'm obviously babbling!
you're so lucky! you know wha…tag:worldofwiffledust.com,2012-11-29:2870411:Comment:1047282012-11-29T14:39:00.913Zwiffledusthttp://worldofwiffledust.com/profile/wiffledust

you're so lucky! you know what i love from your description? the emphasis on art and beauty that the parisians seem to believe in. sometimes cultures get so coarse they practically step on all things "art". i love hearing about france and italy where there is a real value on that which is beautiful!!

You'd have a ball. Parisians aren't stuffy, they're just reserved. They get a very bad wrap from Americans. Parisians are extremely polite and quiet. It's amazing. If they're on a cell on the Metro, they will hold the mike to their mouth and speak in very low tones. We loved them and we were polite and so they were very kind to us. I think you need to go. And, OMG it's so beautiful. The food and wine is just ridiculously good. The women are all so fashion conscious. And the museums are delightful. But strolling and sitting at a sidewalk cafe and people watch is the most fun of all. Don't get me started!! We're going back and stay at least a month probably next year. Can't wait.
do you really think i'm a par…tag:worldofwiffledust.com,2012-11-27:2870411:Comment:1045782012-11-27T01:43:37.938Zwiffledusthttp://worldofwiffledust.com/profile/wiffledust
