I've learned to stop planning and just let things come as they will. This summer, I've told many many people that "I don't make plans, I make ideas." Life will happen regardless, and oftentimes it's much more fun to simply allow it to happen.
So I guess that means I'm grateful for fate.
  • wiffledust

THAT is cool, steen!! it's a scary thought though. leaving things to fate. you have aLOT of faith, girl!!
  • wiffledust

I am so grateful for my artistic ability... not that I am a Picasso mind you. However, I do so love to be creative. Right now, I'm working on lots of drawings and quilting. I love this form of meditation. I tend to draw a lot of my own pictures for my writings.

i'm really grateful for the power of my imagination. it gets me into alot of trouble, but it also solves all the trouble. it's such a wonderful gift that we all have.....

I am grateful today for a new generation of children who are brilliant, bright and beautiful beings. I am also grateful for the parents who are navigating and guiding this new brilliance.
  • wiffledust

good morning, susan! this is a gratitude i recognize, because it comes from a teacher......if people take the time to get up close to children in the process of learning, there is hope galore!!!! i'm grateful for young people this morning too. i got a visit from one! :-) it brightened it all up!
  • Jen

I am grateful for my Swedish daughter coming to visit tomorrow. I'm grateful for sending a happy, healthy Senior into his final year of school tomorrow (although it's a mixed grateful, because the journey has been such fun and I don't want it to end). I'm grateful for this great site!

  • Lillian Gaffney

I am so grateful for the vacation home to Pa and NJ. It was wonderful to see so many friends and family. Some people, we hadn't seen for a very long time, we simply picked up where we left off. Nice to enjoy the foods of "home", we miss them here in the south. I feel extremely rich for not only the the experience, the connection, but for the generosity of everyone that opened their homes and hearts to us. I am truly blessed to be loved by so many. My memory bank is full of wealth!!
  • wiffledust

lillian, what are the foods that you can't find in the south? curious. i'll be even more grateful for them here!
  • wiffledust

i'm so grateful for the fall i can hardly contain myself. for me summer gets very tiring...by the end i feel beat up by it. but this year was particularly brutal. this new crisp weather makes sleeping and working a completely new experience. and for that, i am grateful!

  • wiffledust

    DEAN! WOOOOOOOO! HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! YAY YOU!!!!!
  • Lillian Gaffney

Lisa, the main food that we miss is good Italian rolls. Chris loves Tony Lucs in Philly... good ole cheese steaks. And he really loves soft pretzels. Even our pizza is better in Philadelphia. Of course, these are not the foods we indulge in on a regular basis...so it is a treat when we come home. He also likes Tastykakes. I enjoy a really good Italian hoagie. And occasionally I like scrapple, which I have found here but it's Jone's instead of Habbersat. They freeze it cause it isn't a popular food here.

I must say I now love collards which is a southern dish I learned here. Pecans and peaches are also primo here. I can make a mean pecan pie as a result of a southern dish.
  • wiffledust

my mom was southern and made an incredible pecan pie!!! did you know you can get tastykakes and philly soft pretzels online? we used to send scrapple out to a friend in california, because he couldn't get it there. do you get amoroso rolls down there? they are a nice hoagie roll
  • Lillian Gaffney

yes, I knew about online delivery...however, it cost a small fortune. No amoroso rolls here. Publix is the only place that comes close to the rolls we are used to, which are pretty good.
  • Steen Krause

I'm grateful that my brother is in the same state as me again!
