A place to celebrate what we're grateful for. It's fun to think about these things, and apparently it's good for your health too! Embrace your creativity! Go ahead and celebrate your gratitude for anything, no matter how big or small it may be!
i'm so grateful for the bravery of dr. martin luther king and for all of those who followed his example of non violent civil disobedience. i can't imagine our world today without his leadership. we are a better nation for his work and his example. and we have so much work to do. so much work not only in racism but in the poverty that he was working to erradicated. we must keep going. we must keep the dream alive.
Family who are also friends. I am so fortunate that even though we do not get to choose to whom we are related--I'd choose most of mine anyway. A brief visit with my cousin, her husband, and their two kids. Great fun seeing my niece and nephew hanging with their cousins and loving it as much as I did as a kid.
indeed, margaret! sometimes friends are better family than family. ...today i'm grateful for the part of me that fights injustice. i won't go into detail, but an injustice was done in my world this week, and i am grateful that i get angry enough about such things to fight back rather than roll over.
Hello to all the beautiful grateful souls here! I just saw a cute poster that read: Gratitude is the doorway to Abundance. I like! Thought I would share and say how grateful I am for just being able to express my gratitude! And grateful for people who stand up and who share love and who light the way and who wait for their brothers and sisters to catch up. Hugs!
So very grateful I could find a breed of dog that I'm not allergic to!! We'll be able to bring home the cutest little rescue dog, and my daughter's dream of being a dog owner will come true!! Feeling truly blessed...
i love you guys. i'm grateful for you and your encouragement, maryrose. thank you so much for being you! maryanne, i'm so happy you find inspiration in this group and that you share here! gratitude IS the doorway to abundance. and it is how we were meant to live. we were not meant to live in fear and scarcity. hugs to you too!!! .....i'm grateful for inspiration in any way i get it. sometimes it comes in the form of a comment here from a dear member. sometimes it comes in a quiet moment from a silent voice. sometimes it's on a tv program or in a fictional story. sometimes it's in a little dog. but however it comes, i'm grateful for it, because it can change your world/my world in a nano second.
i'm grateful for a bunch of sleep last night. i was so tired, and finally was able to get some much needed zzzz's. it's crucial to being able to think and process your emotions. yay!
I am grateful for guitar/song writing time with my husband (who is recovering from a dog bite on his picking hand) and time/phone calls with my children, who seem to be on some good paths these days!
Also thankful for Obama's progress in getting rid of NCLB and lots of other ridiculous laws!!
glad you found your way here, beth. and happy for the things you are grateful for! i find reading what other folks are grateful for boosts me up. i think the others here feel the same way. i didn't realize you were a guitarist/songwriter. i hope you'll post some of your original stuff on your player. it's on the left of your page. i'm grateful for our new member beth!
"For each new morning with its light, For rest and shelter of the night, For health and food, for love and friends, For everything Thy goodness sends."-Ralph Waldo Emerson
i am particularly grateful tonight for Whitney Houston being the conduit for God's voice ..even if it was for too short a time. such beauty was ours for a time.
i'm grateful for an upcoming project i'm working on, because it's fun and creative and involves working with a couple of very talented people. artistic work is a very big blessing
i am very grateful for good friends who keep my spirits up when things get rough...and grateful for the ability to do the same in return whenever i can.
I am grateful for the fact that, despite what we so often focus our energies on, there are more good people than bad and there is more beauty than ugliness in this world.
that is so great, ruth! i get very emotional at those ceremonies. i was very close to alot of immigrants, and it means so much to the ones who want to live here. yay! that's my gratitude today too! and i'm grateful for the deliciously warm weather we're having.
So grateful for the opportunities my daughter has to learn about and work with wildlife! Her experiences are so far beyond a book or classroom!! Watching her grow and reap the benefits of all these experiences, has me saying "thank you" everyday!!
i am grateful for whoever invented the screen. last night there was something out the window making such a racket, that all i could think of was THANK YOU SCREEN! it was what was between me and "it". and i know they didn't always have them "back in the day"!!!!
i am incredibly grateful for some people that have pitched in beyond all expectations to help me get something done at the last hour. i am a person who can feel overwhelmed by such kindness. it is so refreshing to see the goodness in people. thank you, thank you, thank you!
isn't it always the little things that make you feel grateful down to your core ? the soft bed, the working radio or tv. the full belly. the someone to say hi to. the church bells in the distance. the dogwoods in bloom. the fridge with some food in it. the ice cream sundae. it doesn't have to be big to matter the most.
I have taken on a new perspective of being Grateful and it no longer is based on that there is someone else in the world who is suffering in a way that my life looks wonderful or blessed .. I am Grateful for being connected to every single living thing and in that is a knowing that we all are equal in this universe and we all benefit from Grace and Kindness and Love and Joy and that benefit even flows into the hearts of those who by our standards of "blessings" are not that as blessed ..... who am I to "think" that because someone does not have shoes that they are not blessed? ... they are, we all are, and I am grateful that I am beginning to see all as blessed in a way that is not based on what I have or they don't have ..... rambling I am! hard to explain but just wanted to share. And Lisa, yes, those little things are wonderful and remind me of the simple joys in life which are so numerous that there is something wonderful that happens inside of my heart when I take stock of those simple messages that whisper to me that I am having a moment of joy (good lord, I must have had one too many glasses of wine tonight!) :-) Hugs for all!
interesting, maryanne, because i too have been thinking more about how we are all connected/interconnected. there are so many synchronicities in life. i believe that we bump into each other, fall in love with each other, befriend each other, teach each other, serve each other, work for each other probably for a reason. there is probably a big matrix of some type going on out there, in here. i have no idea. but some things are just too unusual to not notice. and these are the truly important things to be grateful for. that stranger telling you you look nice today. that status on fb that touches us. a moment here. the smile from a baby at the right moment. whatever it is. i just feel there is intelligence behind it all. i'm rambling too! :-) it's late! haha
i'm grateful that although we had a big storm system move through here that we didn't lose power. i feel guilty that i am so dependent upon electricity, but it is very disruptive to me to have the power out. esp with food in the fridge. so i'm just very grateful this morning that we have some much needed rain AND the lights on! :-)
i am particularly grateful for the life of my dear aunt. she was a big joy in my life, and i loved her very much. she was funny and intelligent, warm and kind. she wanted to be a fine teacher, and she was one. and i believe she remembered every single student she ever taught, because she told me about so many of them long after they were grown. she taught me so much about history from a first person point of view, because she lived a long time. but not long enough for my liking.
on this father's day, i am so very grateful for having my dad as my dad. i didn't get to have him as long as many people do. but it was long enough to learn what he wanted to teach me and long enough for us to be the best of forever friends. so many girls never get a father who takes their dreams and ambitions seriously and never learn to believe that they are more than cute. my father listened to every hope and dream i ever had and took each one seriously enough to discuss at length. we didn't always agree, but i knew that what i wanted and what i thought mattered. and i knew he was in my corner. i wish the same for every kid out there.
That is so wonderful Lisa ... to have a father like that .. you were so blessed! I am grateful for my dad too but not because he did any true listening or fathering in the traditional sense. My dad was a very happy drunk who loved to teach us kids how to survive in the wilds and we learned a lot from him and to this day I never worry if civilization goes kaput because I was trained by McGyver William Hughes! :-)
Maryanne, I hope you'll forgive me chuckling at this! I love it. At least he was a happy drunk. And I'm glad you got something out of him that was very useful! I often think of Barbra Streisand saying the reason she became such a success was because her father abandoned the family and her mother told her she'd never be somebody. Sometimes we get what we need more than what we wish for! :-) Those survival in the woods skills may yet come in handy. Wayne Dyer says he is who he is today, because his drunk father abandoned the family.
I spent a wonderful day with three of my favorite guys. My father, who I love and appreciate more everyday! My husband, who is the best father in the world for our daughter! So much love, compassion, and understanding from a man that really had no father! Lastly, my Uncle John, a caring, sweet man who has never had children of his own. He loves our girl so much! Three blessings on this father's day!
Today, I am grateful for Lisa Wiffledust.
